LAS VEGAS — One day, Josh Minott is looking like the steal of the draft, grabbing the ball off the rim and surging up the court in transition before finishing with a craft layup through traffic. The next, he is missing jumpers, turning the ball over and having a difficult time channeling his energy in the right direction. Such is life for almost every young player at the NBA Summer League, where draft picks, young vets and those on the outside of the league looking in are all competing to lay some foundation for the season ahead.
