Burleson Family Medical Center in Burleson, Texas

I've been going here since they were where the Elk Diner is now. At one time there were no appointments at all; however, they had beepers they would give you and you would be beeped when approx. 30 you would be seen. Then, they went to cell phone notification. Yes, the wait was mostly long, but you knew it would be. Then, the appointment system along. One of my problems with that was, if you were really sick, i.e. flu, cold, pneumonia, and it was severe, it might take several days (In some cases two weeks) to get an appointment. A lot of the time, you would be dead or over whatever it was by the time your appointment would be scheduled. I have only had a problem with staff a couple of times. Can't remember the first problem, but the second had to do with a refill. I had asked for the refill at the pharmacy. The pharmacy faxed the request to the Dr. office. I kept asking about the Rx for a week and the pharmacy told me the office had not called back. I called the office and left a message that it was an absolute need medication. I got a call back from the Dr. office telling me that I needed blood work done first. I was told that all patients know they have to have blood work each 6 months. I had never been told that in all the years (around 25?) I had gone there. No one called me to tell me that I would need the work done first. It was assumed that I knew that. I see a lot of "I didn't have an appointment" comments. If you were to go to any other Dr. who is on an appointment system, you would be "worked in" when they could do so. The wait would probably be longer since the majority of their patients have an appointment. There are times when you might have an appointment and wait longer. But we all know from past experience that that is the way it is sometimes at a Dr. office. When I go to the BFMC,I have an appointment and I take a laundry list of symptoms. I don't go for only one symptom. I make a list of what I need to ask the Dr. about. Sometimes my visit is longer than at other times. In all, I am pleased with my care at BFMC. The nurses, Veronica and Amy, to name only two, because I can't remember all their names, are nice, friendly and understanding. The office staff is great. If I have a question, they don't mind speaking with me. If I could give them more that 5 stars, I would.
